Plumeria Hibiscus Tiare Other Flowers

Hawaii's flowers are as diverse and beautiful as the islands they represent. From our Plumeria's to our unique Monstera 's, these native flowers provide color and allure to each of our islands. The Plumeria is Hawaii's flower of "welcome" and always in bloom in an array of colors as diverse and beautiful as the people. Its abundance makes it perfect for the fragrant leis which are adoring to wear.

The official state flower is the yellow hibiscus (hibiscus brackenridgei), also known as the pua aloalo. Hawaiians originally adopted the hibiscus flower (of all colors) as their official Territorial flower in the early 1920s. It wasn't until 1988, however, that Hawaii's legislature legally adopted the yellow hibiscus as the official state flower.

The sweet Tiare flower, a type of Gardenia, is native to and also the emblem of Tahiti, where young women tuck the fragrant white blossom behind their ear. Believed to relieve migraines and earaches, some forms of eczema and even heal wounds, the Tahitian Tiare is like no other flower on the planet, with a heavy, sweet hypnotic fragrance that is utterly captivating.

The most highly coveted of ornamental plants, the delicate, exotic and graceful orchid represents love, luxury, beauty and strength. In ancient Greece, orchids were associated with virility. In fact, Greek women believed that if the father of their unborn child ate large, new orchid tubers, the baby would be a boy. If the mother ate small orchid tubers, she would give birth to a girl.
